GREAT, innovative article on Gold, Money, & Banking
The author, Herman E. Daly, died just recently at 84. He was a giant in Ecological Economics, & pretty much ignored/suppressed by the Establishment. One of the reasons for that: he believed "money" is a public utility, & should not be created out of thin air by private banks (which it is, via fractional reserve banking).
R.I.P., Prof. Daly.

How Energy and Finance Have Enabled Plutocrats and Ruined Western Democracies
https://www.newstatesman.com/ideas/2022/02/the-age-of-plutocracy?emci=61695df0-c598-ec11-a507-281878b83d8a&emdi=8832a6a1-c898-ec11-a507-281878b83d8a&ceid=6171896
If the link doesn't work (after copying & pasting), do a Search for the first line only up through "...plutocracy?".
It all started about fifty years ago in the early 1970's. Up through today, it only has gotten worse--- more plutocrats and less truly participatory democracy. A paradigm shift is needed.
The article is an extract from a book, and it's highly informative.

NeoCon & NeoLib Warmongers & Regime Changers Continue On
It never ends. Now our Gov't has assassinated the Iranian General Soleimani, who essentially was the equivalent of our Secretary of Defense, and a folk hero in Iran. Supposedly, he was an "imminent threat" to Americans overseas. He probably was a threat to anyone associated with our Corporate-Government Complex, but the question is why? The simple answer is twofold: 1) our Gov't keeps sticking its nose into Arab and Persian affairs; and 2) our Fed Executive Branch has been attacking and strangling the Iranian Gov't for decades. Why? According to the Feds, it's because they're "terrorists". It would behoove anyone who believes that to study a little history.
I suggest to anyone who launches such a historical search: start with the British discovery of petroleum in Iran in 1908 and the formation of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company (now BP). Then look into the Pahlavi Dynasty--- 1925-1979. Don't overlook the Anglophile CIA-MI6 conspiracy that overthrew Mosaddeq in the 1953 Coup, after the Iranian Parliament voted in favor of nationalizing oil facilities in Iran. Don't forget the Iran-Iraq War, 1980-1988. Saddam invaded Iran, and was more or less backed by the USA. More recently, don't forget to consider our economic & financial sanctions on Iran, which are punishing the entire population. Then there's Trump's withdrawal from the Iran Nuclear Agreement, at a time when (according to independent sources) Iran was meeting all of the requirements. Finally, don't ignore the Sunni-Shia Conflict, which has been going on for hundreds of years. Dubya Bush didn't know anything about it; he thought all believers in Islam were of the same cloth.
This whole mess isn't about "terrorism". It's all about economics and finance. It's about natural resources. It's about the Dollar as the world's reserve currency. It's about Neoliberal plans to privatize the world. It's about the fact that the USA's position as the preeminent Leader of the World is on a downhill slide. Many countries have had quite enough of our Corporate-Gov't Complex trying to run everyone else's affairs. Those countries are forming their own economic and financial alliances in order to bypass the control of the USA's Gov't-Sachs Cabal. It's also about the NeoCon obsession with Regime Change, and "defending Christianity". NeoCon nutcakes never would admit it, but I suspect many of them really do believe they are on a "Crusade". If you recall, Dubya Bush used that word after 9-11, and was roundly criticized for it.
The Ivory Tower Powers-That-Be appear to be trying everything they can to start a war with Iran. Don't let them do it. Speak up every way you can. When they harp on Iranians being "terrorists", keep in mind that Shia Iran is fighting against Sunni ISIS. Also keep in mind that Iran has much more reason to be interested in Iraq than we do. Iraq is their neighbor, and they were invaded by Iraq.
In his almost constant gaslighting, Trump goes back & forth between withdrawing militarily from the Middle East to escalating the trouble there. It's all designed to distract us from his utter incompetence and violations of the Constitution. Don't fall for it.
Lastly, consider the following. The Orwellian politicians (both major Parties) in DC have been quietly changing the definitions of words for at least a couple of decades now. Example: "imminent", as in "imminent threat", no longer means "immediate"; rather, it now officially means something akin to "perhaps sometime in the future". Another example: "war" (the way it's used in our Constitution) no longer means war; instead, it officially means something akin to "counter-terrorism". As such, Rules, Laws, the Supreme Law of the Land, and even morals & ethics no longer apply. At least, that's according to the Powers-That-Be. In reality, it's Orwellian nonsense ...and criminal.
SIDE NOTE--- In reference to his massive escalation of drone attacks, Obama once stated, "Well, it's not really a war.". Here's a clue, Mr. Obama: when you cross a border and kill hundreds of people (1400 in Pakistan alone), that's a war. The war clause in Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution applies. Nothing in Article II can contravene that provision...unless the USA is hit with a surprise invasion. You know that; after all, you're a Constitutional scholar.

When the Overdue Recession Hits Us
Preface
I don't have an Economics Degree, so I rely on a broad spectrum of economists and monetary theorists for these essays. Plus, as a wise man once told me, "You don't have to be a Master Carpenter to recognize a shack.". :)
A few facts---
1. Worldwide debt is somewhere in the neighborhood of $250 trillion, which is close to three times the world's GDP.
2. The U.S. public National Debt is now a tad over $22.5 trillion...more than our annual GDP. We pay $896 million per day in Interest on that debt. Politicians in DC are increasing our Debt exponentially.
3. U.S. personal debt is now just shy of $20 trillion.
4. U.S. unfunded liabilities now stand at a bit more than $125.7 trillion.
5. U.S. nonfinancial Corporate debt is now at about $15 trillion...the highest it has been in decades.
6. Total U.S. Debt (not counting unfunded liabilities) is now a tad over $74.1 trillion. [See: USdebtclock.org ] That's more than three times our annual GDP.
Conclusions---
1. The world is awash in Debt.
2. The U.S.A. has a significant portion of that Debt.
.......................................................
Meanwhile, the UK, continental Europe, and Japan all have been adhering to the Zimbabwe "School of Economics" by PRINTING MONEY. Plus, the USA is on the verge of starting QE-4, more printing of money. This is all being done to prop up the Stock Market. In addition, Corporations have been buying back their own stock, thus falsely inflating that Market. At the same time, Bond Markets have been crashing, capital expenditures have been decreasing, and manufacturing has been slowing down...in the Western World. In Asia (except for Japan), they have been sticking to conventional economic, monetary, and fiscal policies; but in the West, we are in an Era of Weirdness.
........................................................
Bottom Line---
When the overdue Recession hits, and there's a succession of bursting Debt Bubbles, the impact on Western World Finance and Economies will be much greater than in 2008-2009. Businesses, a few investment Banks, perhaps some regular Banks, Insurance companies, and associated firms likely will collapse, then unemployment will jump way up, and price inflation will take hold...thus exacerbating the Recession, possibly driving it into a full-blown Depression.
Central Banks refuse to bite the bullet and raise Interest rates (or better yet, let the Market determine the rate) because that would burst the Stock Market Bubble. We would have a Recession, but we need to because too much money is chasing too few goods. Big-time inflation is coming unless we dial back all this monetary craziness.

BIG News on the Economy
On Wednesday night, 8-14-19, in their News broadcasts, the Corporate Media finally admitted that a Recession "may be" in the near future. Isn't it amazing how we (according to them) went from "our booming economy" to a Bust "may be" right around the corner. Ha!
Of course, the Corporate Media have known that for at least a couple of years. Their News isn't "fake", but it's often incomplete. The metrics for the next Crash have been in place for, at a minimum, the last three years. News of a "booming economy" meant a "boom" only for a relatively small percentage of income earners. The underlying, base economy has been pretty much a disaster. Half the workers in this country are either in poverty, or bordering on it. HALF.
We're talking about workers, not people on assistance/welfare.
The greatest transfer of wealth (to the Upper Crust) in the history of humanity is still in full swing. The so-called "recovery" doesn't apply to the majority of Americans. I've gone through the stats in many previous posts, and don't have the time or energy to repeat that now. The reasons for this dire situation also have been detailed in previous posts.
Here's all you need to know for the near-term future: there's no "may be" or maybe (see the first paragraph above) about the coming Crash. It's about 99.9% guaranteed. We're overdue for it. Again, if you don't believe that, simply look at the time intervals between Booms & Busts from the 1973 Recession to present day. It won't be only here in the USA; it will be worldwide. It won't be a minor downturn. It will be a major Crash. All you can do is plan and act accordingly.
What does "plan and act accordingly" mean? Here are my main suggestions.
1. Pay down as much of your debt as possible. When the Crash hits, your income & purchasing power may go down, but debt payments likely won't.
2. Stock up on extra, everyday household goods...not only food, but paper goods, OTC meds, toiletries, anything you use regularly. Credit will dry up for a time (maybe a week, or two, or ?), and businesses run on credit, not cash. That means delivery of goods to stores will slow way down or stop...temporarily.
3. Keep some ready cash handy. How much depends on your comfort zone. Banks very well may limit withdrawals for a time.
4. Hang on to (or obtain with cash) hard assets. Their value will increase when inflation hits.
5. Don't take on more major debt, unless it's for an asset that you can sell relatively quickly. When announcing their "news" about the Recession, the Media suggested that you perhaps (because of current lower interest rates) should now buy a house or a car. That's wise advice only if you can pay cash and have no extra debt. Corporate interests want you to take on more debt...don't.

Sanctions Are Acts of War
Modern-day "sanctions" should be thought of as essentially the same as laying siege to a major city in the distant past. They are acts of war. Our Fed Government's sanctions relative to Venezuela and Iran are nothing but Empire Building...egregious interference for the purpose of maintaining "American Primacy" in the world.
When a government interferes with another country's economy and finance, and even threatens allies who might not agree with that approach, the whole thing becomes a de facto declaration of war. In the cases cited above, it's interventionism of the worst kind--- strictly to advance "American Primacy and its geostrategic imperatives". It's the main reason our Gov't keeps sticking its big nose into the affairs of the Middle East, Central Asia, South America, and Central America.
It appears that both Neoconservatives and Neoliberals look upon Brzezinski's book, The Grand Chessboard (1997), as the Bible in terms of geopolitics and our Neocolonial Empire. In this Neocolonial Age, our Gov't doesn't have to directly control a country via politics or military force (as in the old colonial times). Now it can do so indirectly by means of economics, finance, and propaganda. No matter who is in power in DC, that's the game. It's wrong, and except for a fairly brief time around the turn of the Twentieth Century (1898-1906 or thereabouts), it's un-American. [Perhaps I should, but I'm not counting our very early history of so-called "Manifest Destiny", when the Powers-That-Be simply assumed that this whole continent belonged to us...because "God" was on "our side".]
Sanctions can lead to a shooting war. Here's a message for our Warmongers; it's taken from the Bobby Darin song, "Simple Song of Freedom".
Let it fill the air
Tell the people everywhere
We the People here don't want a war

Two Differences Between the Last Crash and the Coming Crash
https://youtu.be/9F_sxkSHmCo ...
a very poignant & informative video.
...........................
For those who believe there is no imminent Crash coming, all you have to do is look at the time intervals between the Booms & Busts from the 1973-75 severe Recession up to Present Day, and you'll see that we're overdue for the next Bust. No one has suspended the Boom-Bust Cycle. If anything, Busts have become more numerous since the establishment of the Fed Reserve in 1913...and the "Nixon Shock" (abandonment of the Gold Standard) in 1971.
The DC politicians plus the Corporate Media either are lying or they're significantly ignorant when they tell us everything is rosy. [Very few in the Corp Media have sounded any warning bells at all.] The Asset Bubbles now are worse than they were just before the 1929 Crash...& those numbers are proportionate, i.e., inflation is taken into account. Prediction: the Big Bust will be no later than the end of 2020. It possibly could be later, but I really doubt it.
Plan accordingly.

"The Clown Who Plays King" - NY Daily News
The NY Daily News recently commented on the Clown King, Trump.
My reaction is---
He's got 'em all fooled. They don't seem to realize that it's all about enriching himself even more via the Presidency. He has played the Clown his entire life simply to get attention.
Mega Bankers bailed him out in the '80s only because they figured the name "Trump" would get them more than his complete bankruptcy. Then they put him on an allowance and nursed his failing business ventures back to some degree of health.
Those Bankers are very pleased now. Deregulation of the Financial Sector is the flavor of the day in DC. All this other stuff, though important, is distraction and deliberate misdirection by The Don & Crew. The Elites/Crony Capitalists/Plutocrats win again.

Beware: The U.S. "Debt Ceiling" is an Utter Joke
It was instituted by Law in 1917. In the 20th century, our Government's Debt Ceiling was raised 90 times. From 2001 through 2016, it has been raised 14 times; and it was supposed to be raised again last Fall. Through some sort of machinations, Congress conjured up "emergency spending funds" and postponed the problem until mid-March of this year.
Doublespeak---
March 2018 has come and gone, so what happened? Congress SUSPENDED the Debt Ceiling until March 2019. In other words, there is no Debt Ceiling presently. It was suspended once during Obama's Administration as well. Considering the history of it, arguably there never has been a Debt Ceiling. The whole thing appears to be Orwellian Doublethink and Doublespeak.
The Nixon Shock---
Why is any of this important? Why should we care at all? It started with the "Nixon Shock" in 1971. That's when the Executive Branch issued a "temporary suspension" of the convertibility of the U.S. Dollar into gold. We went completely off the "Gold Standard". Essentially, our Gov't defaulted on its Debt. Shortly thereafter, the Dollar lost 25% of its value. Our long, "temporary" excursion into fiat currency began. Instead of being backed by gold, our "money" became backed by "the full faith and credit of the United States". That means virtually nothing at all if our Gov't borrows, and borrows, and borrows into oblivion... and the rest of the world knows that.
The Largest Debtor Nation---
This great Land has gone from being a creditor nation to being the world's largest debtor nation. To whom is the "money" owed? Primarily, it's owed to foreign Central Banks, other Mega Banks (including domestic ones), and other Mega Corporations. The kicker is this: that Debt is now mathematically impossible to repay in full. So why do those outfits keep loaning us funds? For the same reason a Bank doesn't want you to ever repay the full amount on your credit card: the perpetual interest payments; they will never end. And from where does the Gov't get the funds to make those multi-billion dollar interest payments to Banks & Corporations...from personal income taxes, of course.
In the spirit of Orwellian Doublespeak, the Fed Reserve calls borrowing the "selling of Debt, or Bonds". When other entities cut back on "buying Debt" (loaning us funds), the Fed Reserve (which is made up of privately owned banks) "buys" U.S. Bonds. That essentially means a supposed part of our Gov't loans funds to our Gov't. All this borrowing serves to devalue the fiat Dollar.
The Bottom Line---
Why should we care? If for no other reason, because we are saddling our children and grandchildren not only with a continually devalued Dollar, but also with a Debt that will have interest payments in perpetuity. Then there's the extremely high probability that our economy will collapse because of the Financial shocks brought on by the Fed's insane amount of borrowing.
When it comes to borrowing, the Trump Administration is following right in the footsteps of the Administrations of Obama, Dubya Bush, and others: increasing the National Debt by multiple times. And why all this borrowing? For the most part, it's to maintain U.S. Hegemony throughout the world. And why is that? Because the availability of several key natural resources is peaking or shrinking, and without control of those resources, the USA cannot dominate the world and further enrich itself. Naturally, the Establishment denies any such thing...hardly a big surprise. The Plutocrats claim the whole shebang is to protect the world, spread democracy, and preserve freedom. Right. Edward Bernays would be proud of such claims.
..........................................................
SIDE NOTE---
Price Inflation is not the result of the cost of production going up; rather, it's the result of the value of the Dollar going down. When the value of the dollar decreases, it takes more dollars to buy the same amount of goods or services as before the decrease.

A Warning About So-Called Crypto-CURRENCY
First, let me state clearly that I'm in favor of alternative currency. It should be obvious that the U.S. fiat Dollar is crashing...and it's not the only one doing so. Nevertheless, it's important to note the misrepresentations and falsehoods regarding all crypto-currencies...as follows.
1. The implication coming from crypto people is that Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc. can be used legally in "money" transactions, and that the crypto-"coins" are not regulated (or barely so) by the Feds. False. The first law that applies to them is the Legal Tender Law, Section 5103 of Title 31 (U.S. Code/USC), which delineates exactly what is acceptable as currency. Guess what? All the listed items are issued by some portion of the Gov't or the Fed Reserve. Crypto-"currency" is not Legal Tender. The Cryptos also fall under several regulations having to do with commodities...because that's what the Feds have designated them as---commodities, not currencies.
2. Another implication is that because of "blockchain" technology, crypto people will be able to be anonymous, have their own "banks", and avoid the IRS. All I can say to that is don't be naive. DARPA, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (founded in 1958), created the High Tech world. If they can't master "blockchain", all they have to do is offer $500,000 (or a million) to some independent contractor or two to do it. The line of applicants will be a mile long.
3. Finally, there's a strong implication (sometimes an outright claim) from crypto promoters that not only is the Crypto-World anonymous, but it's also safe. False. There is a War on Crypto-Currencies being waged by the Feds and others. Currently, it's a quiet war. If need be, though, it will get loud and nasty. Don't think for one minute that the Powers-That-Be simply will roll over and watch their fiat Dollar be replaced by some private alternative. [Japan appears to be an exception to that.] If push comes to shove, they will designate all crypto people "financial terrorists" and a threat to national security. With current laws already in place, you then will be subject to arrest without a proper warrant, being held incommunicado, and being held indefinitely without a trial.
The Elites already are emphasizing the "criminal money-laundering" aspect of Cryptos. In addition, it's becoming more & more difficult even to access crypto websites. None of this is a coincidence. The war is on, and if you're attempting to use Cryptos as CURRENCY, you are a target. Lastly, anyone who believes that he/she can do any type of electronic transaction deemed by the Feds to be undesirable, and do it anonymously, is behind on the learning curve relative to what the NSA & other Fed agencies are doing.
The only way Cryptos ever will be Legal Tender in the USA is if only the Fed Reserve produces and distributes them. The Elites won't allow anything else...and they will fight tooth & nail to make certain the Dollar (or its official replacement) remains King.

Let's All Take Our Heads Out of the Sand and Stop Drinking the...
Edward Bernays style Propaganda Kool Aid. In addition to the National Debt numbers, the online "U.S. National Debt Clock" (in real time) has a wealth of other information. [A small portion of it is listed below.] As opposed to what Janet Yellen and many politicians are saying, that info gives us a genuine dose of reality...instead of propaganda.
Since the end (sometime in the early 1960's) of the Golden Age of American Capitalism, here's what Republican & Democratic politicians, the Fed Reserve, Financialization, Globalization (of a certain type), Crony Capitalism, and Corporatism have all brought us to---
1. Our public National Debt is almost $20 trillion. [We are now among the world's top debtor nations.]
2. U.S. Total Debt (public & private) is now a bit over $67 trillion.
3. 42.6 million Americans are living in poverty.
4. 31.4 million Americans are without insurance (the Debt Clock doesn't specify whether that's health insurance or all types of insurance).
5. The U.S. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is about one trillion dollars less than the public National Debt.
6. The Median Income in the U.S. is now $30,123.
7. The Median New Home Price in the U.S. is now $311,015.
8. The "Official Unemployed" number is 7.616 million.
9. The "Actual Unemployed" number is 14.949 million.
All the above is only a tiny fraction of the valuable info found on the Debt Clock.
...............................................................
Glenn Greenwald, who was on a Team that shared a Pulitzer Prize, has pointed out that the Financial Sector in the USA essentially has captured our government. Financialization and the revolving door between Mega Banks and high Gov't positions have contributed greatly to the hollowing out of the Middle Class in this Land. We now have a President & Executive Branch Administration who want to roll back the paltry regulatory protections of Dodd-Frank, thus giving the Financial Sector even more freedom to practice Casino Capitalism... which will further put our financial and economic systems at risk.
The rationalization for such action is that jobs will be created. History says otherwise. Starting with the elimination of the Glass-Steagall Act during the Bill Clinton Era and right through to the lack of prosecution of crooked bankers during the Obama Era, it's clear that: banking needs strict regulation (enforcement and prosecution); and the Mega Banks need to be broken up. Casino Capitalism does not create jobs for the Lower & Middle Classes; it simply enriches the Super-Rich. That's what Trump is pushing/peddling.

Existence of Nukes & the War on Painkillers Support the Case Against...
Governments/Elites/Corporatists/the Ruling Oligarchy. What is that case? It's the proposition that governments no longer represent the will of the People... that is, on most significant issues. In general, that's because governments are puppets of the Corporatocracy, and in fact, a part of the Corporatocracy.
I suspect that, except for a few "True Believers", no sane person on Main Street thinks any gov't should be allowed to possess nuclear weapons. It's simply common sense. And yet in this country, we have a situation in which I'm not allowed to buy over-the-counter (OTC) codeine for my chronic pain, but the Fed Gov't is permitted to not only possess WMD, but also to launch a one trillion dollar program to develop "tactical" nukes. Then the weapons will be more usable... supposedly. We'll make smaller areas uninhabitable for 10,000 years. Such wisdom.
In my lifetime, codeine was available as an OTC drug. [It's probably the most innocuous narcotic painkiller in existence.] Then the Neoliberals began to take over our puppet gov't. [It began with Reagan & Thatcher and the "Washington Consensus".] Of course, I could get a prescription for codeine...except that wouldn't do me any good. The only rural clinic I'm able to access around here doesn't carry any painkillers other than OTC drugs. And why is that? Because the DEA compliance requirements are too burdensome, that's why.
What's ironic is that the "Washington Consensus" (developed & promoted by Neoliberals) and its True Believers promulgated deregulation and privatization. At the same time, they accelerated the so-called "War on Drugs". What a contradiction. What hypocrisy.
To those who argue that opiate painkillers are "dangerous", I would counter with the following:
1. So is booze, America's drug-of-choice. Adults are allowed (in a "free" country) to manage their own affairs and buy all kinds of "dangerous" substances without a Permit. Every year, about a dozen people celebrate their 21st birthday by drinking too much...and then keeling over, dead. Thousands of drunk drivers kill thousands of innocent people every year. Hundreds of thousands of alcoholics die each year from alcohol-related disease.
2. Until moving to this rural area, I was taking codeine for chronic pain for 12 years. Guess what? I functioned just fine, worked, lived Life, & didn't die. Now, and for the past four years, I'm debilitated every day by pain...simply because Neoliberal Nanny won't allow OTC codeine.
3. Pencils don't misspell words. People do that. If some adults can't manage narcotic painkillers properly, that's not my problem. My problem is distracting, debilitating pain.
4. To extrapolate this issue--- prohibition of substances doesn't work; it never has, and never will. But, you see, the so-called War on Drugs is a huge government industry. It's also a way to incarcerate people, and thus benefit another huge government industry. Finally, it's easier to catch blue-collar, drug "criminals" than to catch those with white collars in the Financial Sector. Besides, the white-collar criminals contribute greatly to political campaigns.
Again on the subject of nukes, the current situation in the world is Orwellian. It demonstrates the inability of We the People to peacefully combat Oligarchs and their puppets. [Violence against the Ruling Oligarchy is NOT a sane option. It would usher in the Mother of All Police States, much worse than the one we have now.] Thus, we are treated like "the bewildered herd" (a term coined by the "Progressive", Walter Lippmann). We are propagandized into believing that we can't properly defend our country without these insane weapons. That's BS. There's nary a peep from us when Obama launches a trillion-dollar nuclear weapons upgrade program that will take ten years to complete. A trillion dollars. Meanwhile, bridges collapse, roads crumble, trains run off the tracks or into each other, water systems turn to poison, vehicles are unsafe, highways are inadequate, air pollution continues, nuclear waste storage is inadequate, veterans are mistreated while more of them die from suicide than from combat, the mentally ill are shot, the Fed Reserve tanks our economy while giving free loans to Elites, and on & on. Oh, yessir, we really need to spend gobs of money on more and different nukes. Don't you know, we don't have enough of them. Yeah, right.
It isn't that we can't bring Neoliberal Oligarchs under control peacefully; rather, it's that we don't have the will to do it. I guess that's due mostly to Propaganda, partly to distraction, partly to apathy, and perhaps partly to a feeling that it's hopeless to oppose the Powers-That-Be. All of that must be overcome if we are to have a truly free, participatory democracy. Until then, we're the bewildered herd, the spectators, the ignorant masses, etc. (all terms from Oligarchs of the past). In the 1970's, the Trilateral Commission---a Globalist Think Tank---came out with its first Report. It was book-length, and the title was The Crisis of Democracy. It was written by Globalist "Liberals". According to them, the "crisis" was that America had too much democracy. They said that had to change. It did.

The First Presidential Debate, September, 2016
SSDD.
A big yawn. As in past Presidential debates, the candidates stated they would (if elected) do this, that, & the other. There's little to no reason to believe anything other than this: when elected, one of them will do a couple of the things promised, but for the overwhelming majority of promises either nothing will be done, or the exact opposite will be done.
The primary difference between this debate & others was the constant interrupting of each other by the candidates.
American politics at the national level is a complete farce. Here's what's really going on---
"The powers of financial capitalism had another far reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements, arrived at in frequent private meetings and conferences. The apex of the system was the Bank for International Settlements in Basle, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the worlds' central banks which were themselves private corporations. The growth of financial capitalism made possible a centralization of world economic control and use of this power for the direct benefit of financiers and the indirect injury of all other economic groups."
Tragedy and Hope: A History of The World in Our Time (Macmillan Company, 1966,) Professor Carroll Quigley of Georgetown University, highly esteemed by his former student, William Jefferson Blythe Clinton.
Whoever wins in November, that person will serve the International Financial Coterie (Quigley's term). That means the rush to NeoFeudalism will continue.
Finally, unless a poll is conducted by Gallup, Harris, or Pew, it's doubtful that the results are representative. That's especially true if the poll is one of these "online" polls, where all the "true believers" (& few others) click on the candidate they worship. That's not even close to a scientific poll. The point is this: when the Corporate Media cite their online polls as proof that the current election is "neck & neck", it's really doubtful that is true.

"Fool Me Once, Shame on You; Fool Me Twice, Shame on Me", OR, More on the Shadow Gov't
"It is this power structure which the Radical Right in the United States has been attacking for years in the belief that they are attacking the Communists."

Quigley understood (and stated) that the International Financial Coterie (his phrase) was the real controlling force in the world. Way above political groups, they often would use/manipulate various institutions (whether on the Right or Left) to attain their goals. Edward Bernays, the Father of the Public Relations field, gave them a massive boost in 1928 with the publication of his book, Propaganda: Molding the Public Mind.
To the Coterie, none of this is a "conspiracy"; rather, it's merely "private", and "good business practice". [In essence, they have little or no ethics.] Today, it's fairly obvious that world central banks (especially the Fed Reserve System), the IMF, the World Bank, the Bank of International Settlements, the Financial Stability Board of the G-20, about thirty Mega Banks (e.g., JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, etc.), and a few others essentially control world Finance and Economics...regardless of political Parties. He who controls the purse, controls it all.
As an international banker of long ago once remarked, "Let me issue and control a nation's money and I care not who writes the laws." – Mayer Amschel Bauer Rothschild, 1744-1812.
Unfortunately, as recent headlines affirm, mega banking today is rife with fraud and wealth transfer schemes. On top of that, world central banks create massive Asset Bubbles which skew the Free Market...and eventually destroy economies. The dynamite documentary (now online at Netflix.com & elsewhere), Money for Nothing, explains it all. If you're at all confused by what's going on in Finance and Economics, that film is a Must-See. It's right on the mark.
Banking should be a public utility. [The Fed is a cabal of private banks.] At the very least, a public bank should be an option...much the way it is in North Dakota. That bank, by the way, outperforms Wall Street. Google/Bing: Ellen Brown public banking. She's the leader of that movement, and has written numerous brilliant pieces on the subject.

The International Financial Coterie is Destroying Us
Below the dotted line is a recent email I sent to my son, other family, and a few friends. It has to do with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the International Financial Coterie (IFC), the latter not being an "official" designation (it was coined by the late Professor Carroll Quigley).
First a brief Preface---
If not the most powerful, then the IMF certainly is one of the very powerful financial institutions on the planet. Most of us have heard of it; but most of us have no clue as to exactly what it does. I suspect that even fewer of us know much about the IMF's Special Drawing Rights (SDRs). My son had sent me a piece from the IMF official website, a piece with a brief discussion of SDRs. The SDR system basically is a "basket" of currencies that acts as an additional reserve to participating world central banks. SDRs can be exchanged by participating members for freely usable currencies. On October 1, 2016, China will join the elite SDR members.
